To support our strategy of increasing our gas supplies from our own assets, we are rapidly expanding our involvement in international exploration and production with assets in the North Sea, Nigeria, Egypt & Trinidad & Tobago.

We employ, geologists, geophysicists, reservoir and production engineers as well as a range of commercial and support personnel at our offices in the UK, Norway, The Netherlands & Trinidad. Completions Engineering Supervisor Centrica Energy CE2234

We’re proud to be securing the UK’s energy needs and through our Upstream business we’re aiming to become the leading consolidator and operator of orphaned assets in the UK continental shelf with additional assets in the East Irish Sea and Trinidad.



The position sits within the Technical Function, Wells group. The Wells team in Aberdeen consists of around 35-40 persons covering the disciplines of Drilling, Completions, Well Intervention, Well Integrity, Subsea, HSEQ, Finance and Supply Chain Management.





Completions Engineering Supervisor - The Overview:



Manages the activities of the Completions Engineering team (onshore/offshore) and ensures the safe and efficient execution of projects.

Completions Engineering Supervisor - The Role:




  • Provides leadership, direction and technical guidance to the team and proactively supports the professional development of less experienced engineers.
  • Supervises the planning, design engineering, cost estimating/control, execution and post-well review for completion and work-over operations. Ensures work programmes are operationally sound, with clearly established priorities and goals to deliver top quartile performance and in accordance with the well SOR. Ensures projects are executed safely and efficiently, in full compliance with corporate policies, standards, procedures and guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures the team inter-faces effectively with other teams e.g. subsurface, projects, supply chain, finance to safely and successfully deliver the well and supports/influences decision-making on completion issues.
  • Demonstrates a challenging and innovative approach to completion design and construction to ensure cost effective, safe and environmentally acceptable Well Engineering solutions. Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies in support of Centrica’s objective to be an industry leader.
  • Ensures an effective process of communication is established and maintained between onshore and offshore teams and with key contractors.
  • Ensures appropriate peer reviews and/or Risk Assessments/HAZOPS/HAZIDS are held for each well with assigned actions closed out accordingly.
  • Manages the capture and close out of lessons learned and analysis of NPT events.
  • Ensures End of Well Completion Reports are submitted on time and are of a high standard.
  • Manages the AFE process and well costs, prepares forecasts, checks and approves invoices, etc. for particular projects within the team’s area of responsibility. Develops a high level of financial/commercial awareness and understanding within the team and ensures operations and project expenditures are effectively managed, controlled and monitored.
  • Supports the tendering, evaluation and negotiation process in relation to the award of services and materials contracts and agreements for completions operations. Acts as Technical Sponsor for certain contracts.
  • Supports the contractor management process by developing highly positive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Ensures contractor delivery against KPIs/scorecards.
  • Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies and encourages the team to develop cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions which positions Centrica as an industry leader. Initiates learning sessions to develop innovation within the team.
  • Participates in industry forums.
  • Provides support to the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Incident Response Team (IRT) in the event of an incident with wells implications.
  • Makes regular visits offshore for technical meetings/inspections and to enhance onshore-offshore relationships/communications.
  • The job holder is expected to take ownership for the continuous development of their own personal and technical expertise and knowledge.
  • The job holder is expected to be flexible and undertake additional duties commensurate with the overall responsibilities of the job, and that are within their competence, when required.

Completions Engineering Supervisor - The Person:




  • Considerable experience in a senior well operations/completions role, both onshore and offshore, and including jack-up and semi-submersible operations
  • Experience of leading well operations/engineering teams.
  • Experience of running complex subsea completions and trees
  • Knowledge and experience of Risk Management techniques/processes
  • Understands project financing/cost control principles
  • Proven relationship-builder - internally and externally
  • Highly developed communication skills


Qualifications:




  • Degree in an engineering/technology/science discipline
  • Fully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority for well interventions e.g. IWCF, WELLCAP


In addition to the above, the job holder will be required to meet the requirements of the UK industry standards in relation to offshore medical and survival training
