We support Centrica’s integrated energy model by procuring and acquiring gas and power for our British Gas customers.

Upstream - We have significant North Sea assets and are a leading consolidator and operator of orphaned assets in the UK Continental Shelf. Despite the challenges posed by dwindling North Sea supplies we believe our upstream oil and gas business can provide over a third of our British Gas needs for many years to come.

Midstream – As the UK becomes increasingly reliant on imported gas, our midstream business will play an even more important role in our energy mix. Our teams in Windsor and Germany source pipeline gas for transport to the UK and liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipped from all over the world to our Isle of Grain terminal in the Thames Estuary. Our midstream business also manages gas and power assets trading to generate additional revenue for the group.

Power Generation – We have eight CCGT power stations in the UK. A clean and efficient way of generating power, it will continue to be an important source of energy in the future. However, with increasing pressure to reduce CO2 emissions, our strategy is to diversify our power generation portfolio. We’re increasing our renewable assets with additional offshore windfarm developments and have become an active partner with EDF for the first new nuclear build in the UK for over 20 years – further reducing our exposure to volatile gas market prices.
